What is it?

AIPMT (ALL India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test)

1. All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
2. The admission for 15% of the total seats for medical/dental bachelor degree courses in medical colleges run by Union of India, state government, municipal and other local authorities in India except the state of Jammu & Kashmir is made on the basis of AIPMT merit list.
3. You had before B.H.U., AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC & various state PMT 's but PMT has a National appeal, as this entrance examination is conducted exclusively for the 15% Merit Positions for the Medical / Dental colleges of India, as specified in the directive of the Supreme Court.
4. AIPMT examination is conducted in two stages:

• Preliminary Examination
• Final Examination.

5. There are 1600 seats. Usually, candidates up to 2800 rank get selected.

Eligibility

AIPMT Eligibility

1. He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./DENTAL Course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.
2. The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination.

• Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes/Other Backward Classes.

3. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates
4. The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination.
5. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates.
6. Those who are taking plus two examinations in current year can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.
7. The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination, after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology (with practical tests in these subjects).
8. The intermediate/pre-degree examination in Science of Indian Universities /Board or other recognized examination body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

Examination Pattern

AIPMT Examination

1. The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.The duration of paper would be 3 hours.
   Exam Pattern : Mains
   (Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination).
2. The Final Examination would consist of two papers. Paper-I would contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper-2 would contain questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology). The Final Examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions to be answered in the Test Booklet supplied.
