What is it?

SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test)

1. Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University [SIU] established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).
2. It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of these Symbiosis institutes.
3. However for the selection process there will be two separate Competent Authorities:

Eligibility

SET Eligibility

Symbiosis Law School [SLS] :-

1. 12th Standard examination passed with minimum 50% marks. (45% for SC/ST candidates).
2. The candidates should have passed the 12th Standard examination in the very first attempt and not placed in compartment.
3. The candidates who have appeared for the 12th Standard examination may apply for the SET subject to the fulfillment of the above-stated conditions.

Symbiosis Institute for Computer Studies and Research [SICSR] :-

1. Student passing 12th from any faculty or equivalent diploma in Engineering/Technology, with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST category candidates).

Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (Undergraduate) [SCMS-UG] :-

1. 12th pass from any branch with minimum 50% marks for general category and 45% for students of SC and ST category.
2. Qualifying the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) Indian students will be admitted on the basis of a merit list drawn out of the results of the entrance test subject to scoring the minimum marks as mentioned above in Std. 12th.

Symbiosis Institute of Design [SID] :-

1. Candidates must have passed with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in 10+2 in any stream from recognized University. (45% marks for SC/ST)

Symbiosis Institute of Health Science [SIHS] :-

1. Std.12th Pass with any two of the following : Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Botany / Zoology / Biochemistry / Microbiology /Mathematics or Equivalent decided by competent authority.

SET Structure :-

1. SET duration is 150 minutes.
2. SET is an objective test and has 150 questions.
3. SET question paper for ‘Design’ is for those seeking admission to Symbiosis Institute of Design and SET question paper for ‘General’ is for admission to all other Institutes.
4. SET is an aptitude test and is objective in nature.
5. Each question has four options as answers and carries one mark for correct answer.

Note :-

1. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
2. All sections are Mandatory.

Student aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs to follow the 3 stages mentioned below :-

Stage-1 : SET Test :-

• Register online at www.set-test.org
• Candidates can register either for General or for Design or for both.

How to Register For SET ? :-

• Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs:800/- on this website www.set-test.org for both streams.
• On closing of Registration, print “Admit Card” from the website.
• Paste a recent photograph on the Admit Card.
• Bring the Admit Card on which the photograph is pasted and a Photo Identity to the Test Center. (Candidates shall preserve the Admit Card till the Admission process of the desired Symbiosis Institutes is over. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued)
• Appear for the Test.

Stage- 2 : Submit Application form to the desired SIU’s constituent institutes :-

• Purchase the prospectus and application form of the desired institute.
• The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form for all of these institutes and also pay SET fee.
• Complete the application procedure of the desired institute.
• Apply for both General and Design.
• Apply also for one or more SIU’s constituent institutes.

Stage-3: Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if called :-

• Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute.
• The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
• The individual institute as per their schedules will announce Merit List & Waiting Lists.
• For details of selection process and schedules please refer to the prospectus of respective institutes.

Important :-

• While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
• The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
• The SET Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results.
• Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that Axis Bank (formerly UTI Bank) Challan for cash payment, or Demand Draft along with Payment Advice Form for DD payment reaches Symbiosis Test Secretariat. Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of Courier/Postal Services.

• As an international student, you are eligible to apply as a Foreign National (FN) if you  hold a Foreign Passport.
• As an international student, you are eligible to apply as a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) if you have a PIO card, and are a citizen of a country other than India.
• As an international student, you are eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if you have appeared for your 10+2 examination outside India, and have appeared for your graduation either in India or outside India.

Postgraduate :

Level Categories under International Students Admissions :-

All students applying for Postgraduate and Undergraduate level through this FN category will have to submit English Proficiency score.

How to Register For SET ?

Step 1.

Candidate can select both General and Design by registering separately and making payment separately. Register at www.set-test.org. This will generate your SET ID . For different modes of payment, different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

Step 2.

Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs:800/- for General and Rs:800/- for Design separately if candidate desires to apply for both according to the payment mode. You have three choices for payment.

• CASH :-

• This ‘Payment Advice’ form is in three parts. Pay Rs.800/- in cash at Axis Bank [formely UTI Bank] branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two parts of the ‘Payment Advice’ form to you. The ‘Student copy’ is your receipt.
• Sign the Symbiosis copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ form stamped by Axis Bank [formely UTI] and send it to :-

• Get a crossed demand draft for Rs.800/- from any Bank in favour of “Symbiosis Entrance Test” payable at Pune.
  
• Sign the single copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ for Demand Draft and send it along with Demand Draft to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat.

• You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online. Follow the instructions on the website.
• The SET website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form along with online payment of SET fee for the institutes listed on the Screen. The Institutes participating in Online Sale of prospectus are:

• Print the Admit Card online, Paste your own photograph on the on-line Admit Card.
• Bring the Admit card with photograph pasted on it to the Test Center in addition to a photo-identity. An acceptable photo identity is any one of the following
  1. Passport
  2. Driving license
  3. College/Institute identity card
  4. Credit card with photograph.

2. Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes.

Important :- SET Registration Fee is non-refundable. Please note that claims for refund of the SET Registration fees not be entertained on any account.

• Print the Admit Card onlinePaste your own photograph on the on-line Admit Card.
